2027 Tesla Model Y & 3 updates announced for Australia

Tesla has announced a series of 2027 Model Year updates for the Model 3 and Model Y in Australia, including a lower price for the Model Y Performance, increased Model 3 Performance range and quicker acceleration for selected Model Y variants.

The Model Y Performance is now priced from $84,900 before on-road costs, following a shift in production to Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai. That’s down from the outgoing price of $89,400.

The Performance is also available with a new Glacier Blue exterior colour and Zen Grey interior. Exterior paint is now priced separately, in line with other Model Y variants.

Changes to the Model 3 Premium and Performance include a larger 16-inch central touch-screen, dark headliner and the availability of a new Zen Grey interior. Model 3 Premium buyers can also select new 19-inch Dark Nova alloy wheels.

The biggest mechanical change applies to the Model 3 Performance, with its WLTP driving range increasing by 29km, from 571km to 600km.

Tesla has also expanded its Power Share functionality across all new MY27 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. Using a separately purchased Tesla Outlet Adapter, the feature allows energy stored in the vehicle’s battery to power external electrical equipment such as tools, e-bikes and other appliances.

Importantly, Power Share is limited to new MY27 vehicles and cannot be added retrospectively to existing Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.

There are also performance improvements further down the Model Y range. The Model Y Premium Long Range All-Wheel Drive now completes 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds, while the larger Model Y L Premium All-Wheel Drive does the same run in 4.5 seconds.

Tesla hasn’t outlined any corresponding power output changes for either model. The updated MY27 Model 3 and Model Y range is available to configure and order in Australia now.
