Ferrari is sending the first production example of its highly debated Luce electric vehicle up for sale at the RM Sotheby’s Monterey Car Week auction this August.
Designated as ‘Chassis 0’, the vehicle will be offered with no reserve, and all proceeds will benefit educational initiatives supported by The Ferrari Foundation. While the standard Luce carries a base price of approximately AU$965,000 (US$640,000), RM Sotheby’s estimates this one-off model will fetch well beyond AU$1.65 million.
The significant premium is somewhat justified by an exclusive white-on-white specification curated by the Maranello brand’s Tailor Made personalisation division. The exterior is finished in Madreperla Semi-Gloss, a bespoke white pigment engineered to produce iridescent reflections that shift between green and violet depending on lighting conditions and viewing angles.
The monochromatic theme is aggressively executed, featuring colour-matched white alloy wheels, bespoke white brake calipers, and a unique Prancing Horse badge set against an optical white background.
Inside, the cabin continues the luminous design brief. The seats are wrapped in Perla Le Mans metallic leather, created exclusively for the Tailor Made program using premium Swiss hides that enhance the interior’s diffusion of light.
Rather than traditional black finishes, the secondary trim elements are painted in Grigio Corvara white, completing the cohesive aesthetic. A dedicated plaque confirms its status as the first production chassis of the Luce program.
Mechanically, Chassis 0 remains identical to the standard production vehicle. Propulsion is delivered by a quad-motor, all-wheel drive setup producing a combined 772kW of power and 990Nm of torque. Ferrari claims the Luce will dispatch the 0-100km/h sprint in 2.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 310km/h.
Whether collectors view the electric Luce as an engineering milestone or a departure from Ferrari’s heritage, its position in the manufacturer’s history is secure.
