Tesla has confirmed a series of updates for the Model 3 range for 2026, headlined by a more capable Performance variant and the introduction of a new Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive model.
Joining the recently-announced 2026 Model Y Performance, the new Model 3 Performance gains an upgraded NMC battery that lifts driving range from 528km to 571km on the WLTP cycle. Despite the added efficiency, it continues to offer 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 261km/h, from its 343kW twin-motor setup

Joining the lineup is the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive, claimed to be the longest-range EV currently available in Australia. It offers up to 750km of WLTP range on 18-inch wheels and 691km on the optional 19-inch wheels.
All 2026 Model 3 variants now feature black Tesla badging, while buyers can choose from a selection of new exterior colours, along with standard 18-inch Photon wheels or optional 19-inch Nova wheels. A five-star ANCAP and Euro NCAP safety rating carries over, achieved under the stricter 2023-2025 testing protocols.

Tesla also confirmed its Supercharger network has expanded to 163 locations across Australia and New Zealand, with a total of 1003 charging stations. Capable of adding up to 282km of range in 15 minutes, the chargers are designed to make long-distance travel more practical.
Additional support includes Tesla’s mobile tyre repair and loaner wheel program, providing around-the-clock assistance for punctures or wheel damage to help customers stay on the move.

Order books open today, October 3, with test drives available from late October and first deliveries expected from November, 2025. Both models continue to be built at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai. See below for the starting prices (excluding on-road costs):
