GWM has confirmed an aggressive product rollout for Australia in 2026, outlining plans for up to 10 new and updated models as it builds on a record year that saw close to 53,000 vehicles delivered locally in 2025.
One of the first to arrive is the Tank 300 Hi4-T PHEV, due in April. This brings in the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder plug-in hybrid system from models such as the Tank 500 PHEV into the rugged off-roader for the first time. It produces a combined 300kW and 750Nm for the Tank 300 – an insane amount of power for an SUV that pops its rear wheels off the ground under heavy braking.

The Haval range will also expand with the addition of the Haval Jolion Max, positioned as a new mid-sized SUV variant designed to strengthen GWM’s presence in one of Australia’s most competitive segments.
Perhaps the most notable move, GWM has confirmed the global debut of its new 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine will take place in Australia. The engine will be introduced in both the Cannon Alpha ute and the Tank 500 large SUV. Specs are yet to be confirmed but it will give GWM a direct rival to the popular Ford Ranger and Everest V6.
Electrification efforts will continue beyond SUVs. The regular Cannon ute is set to adopt the Hi4-T plug-in hybrid setup in mid-2026, which GWM says will make it the only manufacturer offering two PHEV variants in the ute category locally.
The fully electric Ora range is also due for expansion, with at least two new models confirmed for Australia this year. GWM has indicated that plug-in hybrid technology could also be introduced for the Ora for the first time.
In the second half of 2026, GWM will launch WEY, its premium sub-brand, in Australia. While specific models are yet to be detailed, it will essentially be GWM’s answer to rival brands and their luxury sub-brands; MG’s IM brand, Chery’s Jaecoo brand, and BYD’s Denza brand.

Beyond product launches, GWM is targeting a 10 per cent expansion of its national dealer network, aiming to grow from 123 to 135 outlets by the end of the year. A new flagship dealership in Rockingham, Western Australia, is scheduled to open in April.
GWM says the combination of new models, expanded electrification and network growth is all part of its goal to be a top five market player in Australia by the end of 2027, with sales of more than 60,000 vehicles targeted for 2026.
