2025 Kia K4 details & prices confirmed for Australia, Cerato replacement

The successor to the Kia Cerato is now on sale in Australia, in the form of the 2025 Kia K4. The alpha-numeric naming strategy falls into line with Kia’s EV range and overseas market showrooms.

Initially, the sedan variant will be available, with the hathcback sure to follow in the latter half of the year.

Compared with the outgoing Cerato, a far bolder and more streamlined front end treatment is evident, with LED lights stretching from the guards into the grille and incorporating a vertical element. The fastback shape is reminiscent of the Stinger rear-wheel drive sports sedan, that was on sale until recently.

Concealed rear door handles also mark out this new model from its predecessor. A sporty and sleek rear end features EV-esque taillights and rear apron.

Inside, Kia’s latest design ethos permeates, with a Tasman-esque steering wheel boss and twin 12.3-inch infotainment and instrument screens (optional on base model S). LED ambient lighting is also employed to enhance cabin feel. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are featured throughout the range.

The latest advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are incorporated as well, with Kia’s Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) adding lane centring, lane change assist and stop-and-go traffic jam capability, to an already comprehensive range of systems including adaptive cruise, driver attention monitoring and high beam assist.

Furthermore, the K4 utilises sustainable materials such as bio PE plastic, recycled PET felt, bio PU foam and BTX-free paint, enhancing the car’s tree-hugging credentials.

Under the swoopy bonnet you will find either a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 112kW and 192Nm attached to a six-speed automatic, or a 1.6-litre turbo generating 142kW and 264Nm with two additional ratios. The former powertrain returns an official ADR82/01 figure of 7.4L/100km, improving to 6.7L/100km with the 1.6 GT-Line.

Kia has fine-tuned the K4 for Australian conditions, after a rigorous program carried out at Kia’s global Namyang R&D centre. The new model will officially go on sale at the end of this month.
