Renault Australia has announced a special deal on its Megane E-Tech until the end of the financial year (EOFY), with prices starting from $54,990 for the electric hatch.
The Megane E-Tech is one of the only fully electric hatchbacks available in its specific class, but it does compete in the small premium ‘above $45k’ category, along with the likes of the new Volvo EX30 and Mercedes EQA electric crossovers.
Sales have been dwindling for the Renault, with 97 units sold so far this year (according to April VFACTS). That’s behind the EX30 already (115 units) and it has only just gone on sale. The EQA also reported 331 units.
In Australia, the Megane E-Tech is powered by a 60kWh battery that provides a range of 454km on the WLTP cycle. It feeds an electric motor that generates up to 160kW and 300Nm, and it supports up to 130kW in DC fast charging.
Inside, passengers are treated to a 9.0-inch OpenR touch-screen infotainment system, while the driver views a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. These run a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and provide Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.
Other highlights include 20-inch ‘Soren’ alloy wheels, fully adaptive LED headlights, 48-colour ambient lighting, two front and two rear USB-C ports, and adaptive cruiser control with a host of active safety and driver assist technologies.
Up at the back, boot space is measured at 440L, which is pretty impressive for a hatchback. This can be expanded to 1332L with the rear seats folded down.
So, what’s the deal? Renault Australia is offering the Megane E-Tech for a price of $54,990 (excluding on-roads) until June 30, 2024. That’s down from the regular price $64,990. See below for the key specifications.
