2027 Renault Megane E-Tech on sale in Australia, price from $55,990

Renault has announced pricing and specifications for the updated 2027 Megane E-Tech electric hatchback, which returns to Australia with a larger battery, improved driving range and more standard equipment.

The revised model will be offered exclusively in the flagship Esprit Alpine grade. Order books are opening now ahead of the first Australian deliveries scheduled for the first half of 2027.

One of the biggest changes is the introduction of a 67kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, replacing the previous 60kWh nickel manganese cobalt unit.

This increases the claimed WLTP driving range from 454km to 480km, while maximum DC charging capacity rises from 130kW to 165kW. Renault claims a 15-80 per cent recharge takes approximately 24 minutes.

AC charging capacity has also increased to 11kW, while vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality is now available, allowing owners to power external electrical devices and accessories.

Power continues to come from a single electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 160kW and 300Nm. Renault claims 0-100km/h acceleration in 7.6 seconds.

In terms of design, the updated Megane E-Tech receives a revised front bumper, new LED lighting signatures and redesigned 20-inch alloy wheels, along with additional Esprit Alpine styling enhancements.

Inside, the biggest change is a new 12-inch central touch-screen featuring Google built-in, including Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are also supported.

Other standard equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel and power-adjustable sports seats, with memory and massage functions for the driver.

The safety package has also been expanded, adding features such as adaptive cruise control with lane centring, emergency stop assistance, a 360-degree camera and hands-free parking assistance.

A new one-pedal driving mode has been introduced, along with facial recognition technology that can recall individual driver settings.

Despite the equipment and battery upgrades, the Megane E-Tech retains its compact exterior dimensions, measuring 4200mm long with a 2685mm wheelbase. Boot capacity remains at 440 litres, expanding to 1332L with the rear seats folded.

Renault is also offering a complimentary 7kW home EV charger, valued at $749, to eligible private customers who place a $200 online deposit before December 31, 2026, and subsequently complete their purchase. Installation costs are not included.

The updated Megane E-Tech is available in Diamond Black, Flame Red, Night Blue and Shadow Grey, along with selected two-tone and matte finishes.
