2027 Genesis GV60 update announced: RWD entry model, Magma flagship

It seems like every carmaker is reducing their EV prices. And one of the latest is Genesis, for its quirky GV60 SUV for the 2027 model. A new entry model sees the opening price drop by around $15,000.

The 2027 model year lineup spans two variants, including the entry Advanced RWD and the flagship Magma AWD. These replace the outgoing AWD and AWD Performance variants.

Going with the entry grade gets you an 84kWh battery providing a range of 561km on the WLTP cycle, sending energy to a rear-mounted electric motor generating 168kW and 350Nm. It’s underpinned by the 400V/800V E-GMP architecture supporting up to 350kW fast-charging.

New for the 2027 model are a set of 19-inch alloy wheels with Michelin tyres, micro-lens LED headlights, Digital Key 2.0 with over-the-air updates, and a whopping 27-inch OLED digital display and touch-screen combo inside.

Some revisions have also been made to the suspension to improve driving dynamics, with enhanced sound-proofing at the rear helping with refinement. Genesis also says the steering ratio has been optimised to increase response.

Of course, the biggest news is the introduction of the performance GV60 Magma variant. It features an 84kWh battery as well, but with two electric motors combining to produce 448kW and 700Nm.

It comes with an e-LSD, Drift Mode, Virtual Gearshift System (like the IONIQ 5 N), and various performance highlights to spruce up the design. It’ll be the first Magma model to enter Australia. More details on this will be announced later in the year.

The MY2027 GV60 is on sale now, with prices starting from $88,300 for the RWD (excluding on-road costs). Prices for the GV60 Magma are yet to be confirmed.
