Genesis GV60 Magma debuts in Australia, on sale in 2026

No, it’s not a sales rep’ special for Telecom Australia. This is the Genesis GV60 Magma and it has just made its Australian debut at the new Genesis Sydney showroom.

This is the first time the concept has been shown Down Under, and fans will get a chance to see it at the Bathurst 12 Hour this weekend. Although it is just a concept at this stage, a production version has been locked in and will hit local showrooms in 2026.

It is set to borrow much of the mechanics and hardware from the crazy Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, including its dual-motor setup that belts out 478kW. However, some light tuning and tweaking is expected so it fits in line with Genesis and its new high-performance sub-brand.

But think along the lines of adjustable torque distribution for the all-wheel drive system, adaptive suspension, and extensive aerodynamic work to ensure it not only looks tough but cuts through the air and makes use of airflow. And yes, it’ll be available in Genesis’s new hero colour, likely called Telecom orange… or maybe lava or liquid hot something.

Other colours will be available if standing out is not your thing, but it’ll be hard to fly under the radar with all of those wings and its fat stance – we hope the original concept wheels make it to production as well (pictured below). It’ll be the first Magma product from Genesis, with more models to come.

There’s also the chance the Magma brand could introduce some option-up parts and accessories for regular Genesis models, a bit like BMW’s M Sport and Audi’s S line divisions. For now though, the GV60 Magma will launch as a separate variant.

Genesis will also launch a Magma version of its super-large sedan, the G90, in overseas markets., as well as a GV80 Coupe Magma. It’s understood that anything made in right-hand drive will be offered in Australia.
