GWM Australia has locked in pricing and key details for the new Ora 5 SUV ahead of its local arrival in June, giving the brand a new entrant in the small electric SUV space, rivalling the likes of the BYD Atto 2. It also becomes the cheapest fully electric SUV on sale (except in Northern Territory).
Priced from $33,990 drive-away, the Ora 5 will be offered locally in Lux and Ultra trim grades. It is also set to play an important role in broadening GWM’s EV footprint in Australia as the market shifts further toward lower-emissions vehicles.

For Australia and New Zealand, the Ora 5 launches exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle. It uses a front-mounted electric motor producing 150kW and 260Nm, matched to a 58.3kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. GWM quotes up to 430km of driving range on the WLTC cycle, with average energy consumption listed at 15.5kWh/100km.
DC fast-charging is supported at up to 120kW, with GWM claiming a 30-80 per cent top-up can be completed in around 20 minutes under ideal conditions. Vehicle-to-load capability is also included, with up to 6kW of external discharge available.
Dimensionally, the Ora 5 measures 4471mm long, 1833mm wide and 1641mm tall, with a 2720mm wheelbase. That makes it noticeably larger than the existing Ora hatch, while boot space grows to 362 litres.

Inside, there is a 14.6-inch central touch-screen running GWM’s Coffee OS, along with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. Standard Lux features include 18-inch alloy wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera and seven airbags.
Ultra adds an electric tailgate, panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless phone charging and a nine-speaker audio system.
The new model goes on sale in Australia in June, as mentioned, with prices starting from the following (drive-away):
2026 GWM Ora 5 Lux: $33,990
2026 GWM Ora 5 Ultra: $36,990
