MY2026 Genesis GV80 update adds Black variant, 2.5T option

Following the launch of the Genesis G80 Black, the local arm has just confirmed it will be offering the GV80 and GV80 Coupe in Black configuration as well, as part of the model year 2026 rollout.

The idea behind the Black variant is all about sinister luxury character. Many of the design details are converted to a rich black coating, including the 22-inch alloy wheels and brake calipers, front ‘G-Matrix’ grille, body cladding, and the badges are treated to dark tinting.

Inside, yep, more black stuff. There’s a matching badge on the steering wheel, special quilted Nappy leather seats with black suede highlights, real ash wood trim in black, and various black switchgear and details.

The Black variant is being presented in both GV80 wagon and GV80 Coupe large SUV form, which are powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 generating 279kW and 530Nm, paired up with an eight-speed auto with all-wheel drive.

In related news, Genesis is also taking this opportunity to introduce the G2.5 T-GDi powertrain option as part of the MY2026 lineup, although only for the wagon body style and not for the GV80 Coupe.

The engine, as seen in various states of tune in models such as the new Palisade and Sonata N Line, produces 224kW and 422Nm for the GV80. It’s connected up to an eight-speed auto with AWD.
