Volvo EX30 Cross Country on sale in Australia, price from $69,990

A new, rugged-style variant of the EX30 is launching in Australia, called the EX30 Cross Country. It’s available to order now.

Based on the EX30 fully electric small SUV, the Cross Country comes with the Twin Motor Performance powertrain with two electric motors providing all-wheel drive.

It uses a 69kWh battery to provide a range of 427km, while sending energy to the two electric motors that combine to develop an impressive 315kW and 543Nm. Acceleration across the 0-100km/h sprint takes a claimed 3.7 seconds.

So, what’s different about this over the regular EX30? The Cross Country offers additional ground clearance for light off-roading, and features unique wheels or optional 18-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres.

There’s also a unique dark trimming from the front and tailgate, skidplate-like sections down below on the bumper bars, and extensions for the wheel arches to give it that adventurous look.

The interior is pretty similar to the regular model, with a large storage console in the middle, with bigger door pockets thanks to relocated speakers (now on a soundbar on the dash). A slide-out storage box is added to the rear, which is completely removable so it can be used as a bin and washed.

Volvo has applied all of its latest safety tech of course, so it is one of the safest small SUVs on the market. Speaking about the new model, Stephen Connor, Volvo Car Australia managing director, said:

“We launched out first Cross Country car over 25 years ago, and this concept of durable and all-weather cars is core to the Volvo brand. In the country of our origin the winters are harsh, and the summer is savoured whereas we in Australia get to enjoy the great outdoors all year round by getting out and exploring our amazing nature and that is where the EX30 Cross Country delivers a fulling rounded experience.

The new model is on sale now priced from $69,990 (excluding on-road costs). It’s available in Cloud Blue, Crystal White, Onyx Black, Sand Bune, Vapour Grey. Deliveries are scheduled to start soon.
