New RAM 1500 TRX set for 2026, to get ‘Redeye’ 797hp V8 – report

Great news for lovers of ballistic muscle trucks, with reports from the USA suggesting a new RAM 1500 TRX will be back in 2026.

Following the cancellation of the ‘Hellcat’ V8 engine for the RAM 1500 TRX and Dodge Charger, there has been vociferous outcry from fans and US dealers alike. Now, controversial and autocratic former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares is out of the picture and Tim Kuniskis is RAM’s CEO, the 5.7-litre and 6.4-litre HEMI V8 look set to return in the next model year, according to alleged leaked info sent to dealerships.

The sweetest news of all, is that according to Mopar Insiders the Hellcat Redeye’s V8 engine will be used in the new TRX; as there is still a stockpile of engines to utilise. Furthermore, V8 versions of the Wrangler will be produced again as well.

According to a Car and Driver report, the new RAM 1500 TRX will debut in 2026. With the Redeye 797hp engine spec, the new model would become the new most powerful petrol pickup truck in the world. Its 586kW output would tower above the outgoing model’s minuscule 523kW output.

The new model is likely to bring in some other updates, such as retuned suspension, design trimmings, and other bits and pieces. It’s expected to bring in RAM’s latest infotainment suite for the dashboard as well, and potentially even more capability through new or revised driving modes.

As previously reported, it looks like the 2026 Charger will be rectified with a V8 HEMI underneath its bonnet as well. The apparent return of the V8 could mean more muscles are on the horizon. Let’s see.
