Prices have been announced for the 2.5T (turbo) version of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe, joining the existing 1.6 turbo hybrid offering. The 2.5 replaces the previous naturally aspirated V6.
Unlike the V6, the new 2.5T option is available in both front- and all-wheel drive configurations. This will come as good news as the 2.5T offers a 2000kg braked towing capacity, which is much higher than the hybridโs rating of just 1650kg. Having AWD while towing is going to benefit those interested in lots of cross-country touring.
The 2.5-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine is similar to the engine that powers the Sonata N Line. Only in the Santa Fe the package develops 206kW and 422Nm, down from 213kW. Like the Sonata, the Santa Fe uses an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Three trim lines are available with the 2.5T, just like the hybrid, including standard, Elite and Calligraphy. The standard base model comes in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the Elite and Calligraphy are AWD only.
Fuel consumption is rated at 9.3L/100km, which is a decent improvement compared with the old V6 petrol, rated at 10.5L/100km. If itโs absolute economy you want though, the hybrid is stamped at 5.6L/100km.
Riding on the same N3 platform as the last of the previous generation models, the Santa Fe hybrid includes a 1.5kWh battery pack. The battery does add weight, and in fact the base 2.5T AWD has a tare weight of 1992kg compared with 2062kg in the base AWD hybrid.
Aside from the powertrain, the 2.5T models come with the same level of equipment and features as the hybrid. Highlights include a dual 12.3-inch screens across the dash, adjustable seven-seat functionality, and more passenger space than the previous model, including 40mm more headroom in the second row and 69mm more in the third row.
Hyundai Australia confirms the 2.5T option is on sale now, with prices starting from the following (excluding on-road costs). The hybrid is $2500 more in each respective trim level.
