With the proliferation of AI, it is becoming increasingly hard to distinguish fiction from reality in the automotive world. Not so much to the trained, trainspotter’s eye, of course.
That’s why when Cole Attisha’s BMW M4 Gran Coupe popped up on AI Generated Cars Facebook page, we sat up and took notice.
We made a video talking about the proliferation of AI car creators masquerading their creations as real automotive news – knowing full well they can fool anyone who isn’t au fait with AI. When it is done from a ‘what if?’ point of view – rather than the intent to mislead – it can open up a world of very cool and creative possibilities.
Cole’s M4 Gran Coupe answers a question we asked in our 2024 BMW i4 eDrive35 review: Why isn’t there an M4 variant for arguably BMW’s most beautiful shape in production, the Gran Coupe? The result of Cole’s prompt mastery could pass for BMW press shots, with none of the glitch-in-the-matrix style hallmarks of AI.
Depicted as a 2025 BMW M4 Gran Coupe in Frozen Portimao Blue, Frozen Bluestone Metallic, Snapper Rocks Blue, and in white with M livery, gold wheels and a carbon fibre wing, in CS form, which looks very tasty indeed.
As an indication of the car’s performance, the regular M4 CS coupe develops 405kW and 650Nm from its 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six. This is enough for a 0-100km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds, 0-200km/h in 11.1 seconds and a 302km/h top speed. The superior aerodynamics of the Gran Coupe would no doubt assist in the top speed stakes, but its additional weight might add a few milliseconds to the sprint times.
Now to pop the bubble and remind you that this is only a figment of imagination, supported by AI technology. But if enough of us were to ask BMW nicely, then maybe our wishes would be answered.
What do you think of these creations? Would you like to see a real M4 Gran Coupe hitting the market?
