BMW M Snow & Ice Experience is back for 2026, in New Zealand

BMW has confirmed the return of its M Snow & Ice Experience for 2026, offering driving enthusiasts the chance to hone car control in a fun and exciting setting.

Set to run from August 4 to 12, the program will take place at the Southern Hemisphere Proving Ground, located between Queenstown and Wanaka in New Zealand. The facility is known for its perfectly carved-out tracks in amazing mountainous settings, providing ideal conditions for drivers to develop car control techniques on a snowy surface.

Participants can spend a full day behind the wheel under the guidance of accredited instructors, with the course designed to suit a range of experience levels. BMW says the focus remains on building driver confidence and skill, with safety forming a central part of the training as well.

A variety of driving exercises are included, such as motorkhana challenges, acceleration runs, barrel racing and controlled drifting. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience a high-speed passenger ride in a BMW M3 with a professional instructor.

The event utilises a fleet of current BMW M performance models, including the M3, M4 and M3 Touring, allowing participants to sample the latest hardware in conditions that really test out visibility through the side windows.

Multiple attendance packages are available, for both individuals and groups. Premium and Luxury tiers include transport to the proving ground, along with additional inclusions such as branded apparel. Higher-tier packages also extend to accommodation and helicopter transfers, adding VIP-like treatment to the experience.

BMW’s Driving Experience program, established in 1976, is known as one of the earliest manufacturer-backed driver training initiatives. This could be just the ticket for anyone looking for a gift idea for a BMW fan.
