2025 BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 revealed, confirmed for Australia

BMW has unveiled a special edition version of the M4 CS to celebrate Valentino Rossi’s 46th birthday, called the VR46, with just 92 units set for production worldwide. Four examples are allocated for Australia.

The M4 CS Edition VR46 pays tribute to the nine-time world motorcycle champion and BMW M works driver, who played a direct role in shaping its design. Two distinct versions – Sport and Style – are being offered, each limited to 46 units globally. Both variants showcase Rossi’s signature number 46, with unique BMW Individual paintwork and yellow accents reflecting his iconic colour scheme.

Beneath the surface, the M4 CS Edition VR46 retains the performance pedigree of the standard M4 CS. That means power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six engine, producing 405kW and 650Nm. This is sent to a switchable four-wheel drive system with RWD mode via an eight-speed M Steptronic auto.

BMW says acceleration across 0-100km/h takes just 3.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 302km/h. Being the CS, the engine features a 3D-printed head, forged crank, twin sumps, and a closed-deck block.

A major highlight of purchase includes a private meeting with Rossi at his VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia, Italy, followed by a BMW M Driving Experience at the Misano World Circuit. Rossi spoke about the special edition in a statement, saying:

“I am proud to be a BMW M works driver, and to share this passion. The fact that there is now a special VR46 edition, in which I was involved from the very beginning of the design process, makes me proud. When I see the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 out on the road or on the race track later, it will be very cool.”

With only two examples of each variant allocated to Australia, exclusivity is guaranteed. Pricing starts from $346,900 (excluding on-road costs), with local deliveries commencing during the third quarter of this year.
