2024 LDV T60 Max Plus officially announced, priced from $45,990

Following our little leak a couple of weeks ago, LDV has now officially confirmed the new T60 Max Plus for Australia. It brings in the fashionable ‘black pack’ as well as boosted in-car technology with dual screens across the dash.

The 2024 LDV T60 Max Plus is part of “significant lifecycle revisions”, the local arm says, introducing new styling elements, a multi-link rear suspension setup with coil springs as previously reported, and a smarter interior.

It was planned to be called the ‘LUXE+’ as we previously reported, and even these official press photos have a filename starting with LUXE+. We’re not sure why the name was changed at the last minute.

Dual 12.3-inch digital displays spread across the dash on a seamless panel. These include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (wireless), and offer sat-nav and a parking camera system. Also inside, the gear shifter is swapped for a column-mounted unit to open up console space.

In terms of the hardware, yep, the T60 Max Plus uses a coil-spring setup at the rear. This is quite rare in this vehicle class, as most others use leaf springs. It’s still a live axle, adopting a multi-link design, but comfort is set to be enhanced.

LDV says the payload for the manual is 840kg and 830kg for the auto, and the Mega Tub Plus is 800kg. This is up from 750kg in some outgoing models. The braked towing capacity is 3000kg. There’s also an electric power system system replacing the hydraulic setup, helping to save costs.

Power continues to come from a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine that produces 160kW and 500Nm. When matched to the ZF eight-speed auto option, fuel consumption is rated at 8.9L/100km, which is among the highest in the class for a four-cylinder. Even the Ford Ranger Platinum V6 diesel is rated at 8.4L/100km.

All T60 models come with six airbags for safety, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control (auto only), and lane-keep assist (auto only). Talking about the new model, LDV general manager in Australia, Dinesh Chinnappa, said:

“We’ve listened to feedback from the market and worked closely with our colleagues in China to ensure the T60 range remains competitive. T60 Max Plus is a new model that has key technical, specification and safety updates to complement its position as one of the most powerful four-cylinder utes you can buy.”

The new model is on sale now priced from the following (drive-away for ABN holders):

2024 LDV T60 Max Plus manual: $45,990
2024 LDV T60 Max Plus auto: $47,990
2024 LDV T60 Max Plus Mega Tub auto: $49,490
