The 2027 LDV T60 is getting a substantial update in Australia, headlined by a more powerful diesel engine borrowed from the larger Terron 9, along with a redesigned front end and a much-needed cabin refresh. LDV has simplified the range at the same time, cutting the T60 lineup from three variants to just two: PRO and LUXE.
Due in showrooms in October, the MY27 T60 switches to a 2.5-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel, producing 163kW and 520Nm. That’s enough to make it one of the more powerful four-cylinder diesel utes on sale in Australia. Fuel consumption is officially rated at 8.0L/100km for the PRO and 8.2L/100km for the LUXE.
The new engine is paired exclusively with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a selectable four-wheel drive system, offering 2H, 4H and 4L, and available front and rear diff locks.
Braked towing capacity remains at 3500kg, while payload is rated at 1040kg for the work-focused PRO and 980kg for the higher-spec LUXE. Both have a 3150kg GVM and 6250kg GCM.
Visually, the T60 has undergone a significant facelift, with everything ahead of the windscreen redesigned. The new front end follows the styling direction introduced by the larger LDV Terron 9, while both grades now receive black exterior trim as standard.
There are arguably bigger changes inside. LDV has redesigned the dashboard around a new 12.8-inch infotainment screen, accompanied by an 8.0-inch digital instrument display. Wireless and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
Interestingly, the gear selector has moved back to the centre console after previously being mounted on the steering column. This, too, takes a similar design from the Terron 9. The indicator stalk has also moved to the right-hand side of the steering wheel.
The T60 PRO comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, a spray-in tub-liner, damped tailgate, heated steering wheel, cloth upholstery and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera. It continues with leaf-spring rear suspension and is rated to carry the larger 1040kg payload.
Stepping up to the T60 LUXE adds 18-inch wheels, artificial leather upholstery, heated and electrically adjustable front seats, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors and a factory tow bar.
The LUXE also receives a wider track, multi-link rear suspension and front and rear differential locks, along with 220mm of ground clearance compared with 185mm in the PRO.
Despite the redesigned front half, the rear tub carries over from the existing T60. That means accessories designed for the outgoing model’s tray should remain compatible with the MY27 version.
Safety equipment across the range includes autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, lane-departure warning and driver fatigue monitoring, along with six airbags.
The updated T60 marks the third major engine change since the current generation arrived in Australia in 2017. More than 46,000 examples have been sold locally since then.
