LDV is launching a new flagship version of its T60 Max, called the Plus in Australia. We’ve obtained documents which reveal the full details just ahead of its market arrival.
According to documents that landed in our inbox today, the new model will be a special edition that will sit at the top of the range. It will boast a number of new features and special tweaks, inside and out.
Firstly, the exterior comes in for the fashionable ‘black pack’ treatment, with black side trimmings, badges, protection plate, and new black side mirrors which are also heated. There’s also a new integrated rear bumper bar and black tailgate handle.
It looks like a set of new 18-inch alloy wheels, in black, join the package, wearing 265/60 highway-terrain tyres. These are wider than the standard 255/55 tyres mounted on the 19-inch wheels fitted to the regular Luxe variant.
In terms of the hardware, the rear end welcomes a multi-link arrangement with coil springs replacing the traditional leaf springs. This is set to improve on-road handling and comfort, however, the document claims payload has actually increased. It shoots up from 750kg to 830kg.
Speaking of weights, the rear axle load has been increased from 1540kg to 1675kg. There’s also an electric power steering system coming in, replacing the existing hydraulic setup to help cut costs and improve value.
The other main changes are found inside. Passengers are greeted with two 12.3-inch digital screens which run across the dash on a seamless panel. They offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as digital radio. A wireless phone charger is added below, with three USB ports around the cabin.
Safety enhancements are also applied, with adaptive cruise control added, along with autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, and an electronic parking brake. Lastly, a steering wheel stalk-type gear selector system is coming in to help open up space around the centre console.
The new Max Plus variant looks very similar to a similar overseas version badged under the Maxus name. We’ve added some photos to help paint the picture and to give you an idea of what to expect (the top photos are leaked images taken in Australia).
We can’t seem to track down prices just yet, but think around $50,000 and you should be pretty close. It’ll go on sale soon and for around five months only, according to the document. That’s probably because the all-new LDV GST is creeping over the horizon.
