Geely has announced that its EX2 electric hatchback has surpassed 1 million global sales, reaching the milestone just two years after its initial overseas launch in October 2024.
Also known as the Geely E2 in selected markets, the compact EV has become one of the Chinese manufacturer’s strongest-selling models, with particularly strong demand in its domestic market.
According to Geely, the EX2 was China’s best-selling passenger vehicle across all segments in 2025, as well as the world’s best-selling vehicle in the A- and B-segments, based on IHS Markit data.
Sales momentum has continued into 2026, with the model reaching the one-million-unit milestone in early October. The EX2 is now available in more than 30 markets across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.
Geely also reports strong demand in Australia, where the EX2 has topped the light car segment sales charts for two consecutive months. According to VFACTS new vehicle registration figures, 2964 examples have been delivered so far this year (through September), giving it third position behind the BYD Atto 1 (4471 units), and MG3 (6340), despite being on sale for only a few months.
Part of its appeal comes from a combination of features for a compact electric vehicle, including a rear-wheel drive layout. The EX2 also features a tight 4.95-metre turning radius, a 70-litre front storage compartment and a five-seat cabin, with packaging benefits provided by the low-mounted battery.
Other technology includes Geely’s Flyme Auto infotainment interface and a 540-degree parking camera system offering a simulated view beneath the vehicle.
Safety has also been a focus, with the EX2 achieving five-star ratings under the latest 2026 ANCAP and Euro NCAP assessment protocols. Equipment includes seven airbags and Geely’s dedicated battery protection technology.
Two variants are on sale in Australia, including the entry Complete (35.4kWh battery) and the Inspire (47.1kWh battery). Both are rear-wheel drive, producing 60kW and 85kW, respectively, with 252km and 345km range (WLTP). Prices start from $26,490 and $30,990 (excluding on-road costs).
