2027 Hyundai Staria, Staria Load add hybrid option, new flagship ‘Lounge’

Hyundai has expanded its people mover and commercial van lineup with the arrival of the updated 2027 Staria and Staria Load, introducing hybrid power for the first time and a new flagship Staria Lounge premium variant.

The biggest mechanical change is the addition of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol-electric hybrid powertrain. It debuts in the seven-seat Staria Lounge and Staria Load Premium, becoming the first hybrid offered in Hyundai’s commercial van range. Producing a combined 180kW and 304Nm, the new system is designed to deliver smoother performance while improving efficiency.

The entry-level Staria continues with a choice of 2.2-litre turbo-diesel or 3.5-litre petrol engines, while Staria Load buyers can choose between the diesel and the new hybrid.

Topping the updated range is the Staria Lounge, which adopts an exclusive seven-seat layout and a more luxurious focus. It features Nappa leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, second-row relaxation seats, suede trim across the roof lining and pillars, plus acoustic laminated glass for improved cabin refinement.

Across the range, Hyundai has introduced subtle styling updates including a redesigned front bumper, revised grille and a full-width lighting signature. Passenger variants ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, with the Lounge receiving its own design, while Staria Load is fitted with 17-inch steel or alloy wheels depending on grade.

Inside, the refreshed cabin gains Hyundai’s latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit infotainment system, and a new steering wheel and updated controls. Passenger models adopt a steering column-mounted shift-by-wire selector, while the commercial van retains a conventional gear lever and introduces a redesigned centre console.

Technology has been upgraded, with the new infotainment system supporting Hyundai Bluelink connected services and over-the-air software updates across the range. The Staria Lounge further adds Hyundai Digital Key 2, allowing compatible smartphones to unlock, lock and start the vehicle, with access able to be shared with multiple users.

Hyundai has also revised the suspension to improve ride comfort, including new front subframe bushings and rear hydro bushings. Hybrid models receive additional electronic chassis functions designed to reduce body movement over speed humps, improve cornering balance and enhance stability during emergency avoidance manoeuvres.

Further refinement comes through additional sound insulation, including a thicker dashboard insulator, improved sealing around the rear passenger compartment and extra noise suppression measures unique to hybrid variants.
