Hyundai Australia is adding hybrid options for its Staria and Staria Load van range for 2027, giving buyers a more fuel efficient option.
Two variants of the Staria Load commercial van are being offered with hybrid tech, including the
based Staria Load and Staria Load Premium, while the Staria people-mover is only equipped with hybrid tech with a new flagship Staria Lounge variant.
All hybrid models feature a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor assist system, producing a combined 180kW, sent through a six-speed auto with front-wheel drive. A 2.2-litre turbo-diesel continues for the Load as an option on the base model only, with the Premium fitted as standard with the hybrid.
For the Staria people-mover, buyers have a choice between the 2.2 diesel as well as a 3.5-litre petrol V6, in base form, while the top Lounge comes with the hybrid as standard. The new Lounge variant features unique 18-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather, and heated and cooled front and middle-row seats.
All 2027 model Starias come with Hyundai’s latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) infotainment suite, with Smart Key functionality and Bluelink remote connectivity, as well as a new-look steering wheel. The people-mover is available in seven- and eight-seat form (depending on the variant), while the previous five-seater Staria Load has been dropped leaving just the two-seat configuration.
A fully electric option will be joining the Staria Load range later in 2026, showcasing a single front-mounted electric motor producing 160kW. Towing capacity drops to 2000kg, while cargo space remains at 4935L. Range figures are yet to be confirmed.
