2026 Mercedes-Benz VLE revealed; up to 305kW, 700km range

Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2026 Mercedes-Benz VLE, applying its dazzling new design language to the brand’s people-mover lineup and giving us our clearest look yet at what comes after the EQV.

Built on the new, fully electric, VAN.EA platform, the VLE is being pitched less as a van and more as a luxury MPV, with Mercedes-Benz touting limousine-style ride comfort, MPV practicality and seating for up to seven passengers. Mercedes-Benz Australia has already published a local preview page for the model, though an on-sale date and local specifications are some way off.

On paper, the numbers are fairly serious. Mercedes-Benz says the VLE offers more than 700km of WLTP range, backed by an 800-volt electrical system, a 115kWh NMC battery and standard DC fast-charging capability of more than 300kW. The brand claims that can deliver up to 355km of added range in 15 minutes.

Beyond the battery and charging hardware, the 2026 Mercedes-Benz VLE also majors on passenger-car tech, with rear-axle steering cutting the turning circle to 10.9 metres, available air suspension, up to three displays across the dashboard, and a 31.3-inch rear entertainment screen.

Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed a VLE 300 electric with 203kW, while a VLE 400 4MATIC electric with 305kW will sit at the top of the range.

We have an affinity for vans here at DE, whether that be the GAC M8, Lexus LM 500h, Volkswagen ID. Buzz, or Zeekr 009. Even the humble Kia Carnival and Hyundai Staria appreciated, so we are keen to see how this new Merc fares when it arrives here.

Worth noting, too, is that Mercedes-Benz has separately outlined a future van portfolio spanning both VAN.EA electric models and VAN.CA combustion models, so while an Australian petrol version has not been confirmed outright, a combustion-powered companion is clearly on the cards.
