BYD has confirmed its all-new Atto 2 electric SUV will hit Australia in the final quarter of 2025 with the promise of high-tech features, clever packaging, and strong value in the compact EV segment.
Positioned as a smaller sibling to the popular Atto 3, the Atto 2 will be offered in two variants; Essential and Premium. Both are powered by a 130kW/290Nm front-mounted e-motor paired with a 51.13kWh Blade battery.

Underpinned by BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 architecture, the Atto 2 also benefits from Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery integration, increasing chassis stiffness by 32 per cent for improved safety and handling. Suspension comprises MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the rear.
Designed by former Audi and Alfa Romeo design chief Wolfgang Egger, the Atto 2 sports a curvaceous and playful exterior with short overhangs, flush door handles, and a floating roofline. A full-width LED light bar and roof spoiler round out the rear.

Inside, the cabin blends minimalist design with BYD’s trademark tech. Standard features include synthetic leather trim, an 8.8-inch digital instrument display, and the brand’s rotating touch-screen system – 10.1 inches on the Essential and 12.8 inches in the Premium. Other highlights include NFC digital key access, a panoramic sunroof, and a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlet for powering devices externally.
Safety and convenience are also high on the list, with advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control, six airbags, and either a reversing or 360-degree camera system as standard, depending on the variant.
Local pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to launch. Wing You, BYD Australia general manager, said:
“With its exciting looks, superlative technology, and eminent versatility, the Atto 2 promises to be a game-changer in the small-size SUV segment. The Atto family of vehicles is expanding in Australia, and we’re confident this latest addition will be well received by local buyers.”
