Zeekr 9X spotted in Australia, on sale by Q1, 2027

Yes, the mack daddy of all Zeekr SUVs has been spotted in Australia, with an example of the 9X seen on the back of a truck, likely being transported for an event.

The Zeekr 9X is an upper large SUV ready to take on the likes of the Toyota LandCruiser and new Nissan Patrol. Instead of focusing on off-road capability like those two, the 9X is more amount power, technology and luxury.

In overseas form the 9X is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol plug-in hybrid system, with two electric motors doing most of the work. These produce 290kW on the front and 370kW at the back, for a combined 660kW.

However, a top-spec version uses two electric motors on the back, at 370kW each, as well the front motor. Yep, maths fans will notice that’s over 1000kW combined. Actually 1030kW. Or, 1400PS. Acceleration across 0-100km/h is claimed in as little as 3.1 seconds. Even the base spec variant does 0-100km/h in 4.2 seconds.

Battery capacities range from 55.1kWh to 70kWh, depending on the spec, with 230-380km electric range, or just over 1000km of combined range. It also offers 500kW DC charging, which is way higher than most PHEVs.

Although not strictly a heavy-duty off-roader, the 9X is available with adjustable air suspension providing ride height adjustments of up to 110mm, or up to 288mm of clearance. The dual-chamber system offers dual-valve damping control, and the big SUV is available rear-wheel steering to improve agility and high-speed stability.

Inside, it is a technology show car, featuring two 16-inch OLED touch-screens across the dash, a 13-inch cluster display, a 47-inch augmented reality head-up display, and a 17-inch OLED rear passenger seat display. There’s also a 6.6-inch control screen for the rear passengers.

Zeekr is yet to confirm a release date for Australia, but media reports indicate a likely entrance some time in the first quarter of 2027. With this example spotted in production trim, with no camouflage or anything, it seems like a presentation of some kind is just around the corner.
