Mitsubishi Australia develops genuine accessories for 2027 Pajero

Mitsubishi has revealed some of the genuine accessories that will be available on the all-new 2027 Pajero, engineered right here in Australia, including locally manufactured bull bars that retain the vehicle’s full suite of active safety systems.

A total of 20 locally developed accessories will be offered from launch in December, with Mitsubishi Australia’s engineering team having worked alongside its Japanese development division since early 2022.

Rather than developing accessories after the vehicle was completed, Mitsubishi incorporated Australian requirements into the Pajero’s engineering program, including mounting points, wiring provisions and structural modifications.

One of the main developments is a choice of Australian-made steel front protection bars, available in hooped and hoopless designs. Mitsubishi says both have been engineered to retain the vehicle’s full suite of advanced driver assistance systems.

The local team also worked with Japanese engineers to reinforce sections of the vehicle’s frame to accommodate towing equipment, including a weight distribution hitch and various off-road trailer couplings.

Other locally developed accessories include a snorkel, underbody protection, roof racks, driving lights, a winch cradle and an electric trailer brake harness. Several components will also be manufactured in Australia.

Mitsubishi Australia’s accessory engineering manager, Steve Pearson, said the early collaboration with Japan allowed the team to incorporate local requirements before production vehicles were available.

The program involved access to vehicle design data and prototype testing at Mitsubishi’s Okazaki research and development facility in Japan, with specialist Australian suppliers subsequently developing the production accessories.

The new Pajero’s accessories will be available through Mitsubishi dealerships, allowing buyers to have equipment fitted before taking delivery. Dealer-fitted genuine accessories are covered for five years/100,000km, extending to 10 years/200,000km if Mitsubishi’s servicing conditions are met.

For interested punters, the 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero is scheduled to arrive in showrooms in December 2026. Pricing for the individual accessories has not yet been announced.
