A pre-production version of the 2027 Avatr 06T has been spotted in Australia, likely undergoing local calibration and testing ahead of a market launch expected in 2027.
There’s an influx of performance wagons on the way for the local market, including the upcoming Exlantix ES GT range-extender that does 0-100km/h in under 3.0 seconds, and the Zeekr 7GT that does 0-100km/h in 3.1 seconds, and the 850kW Denza Z9GT that does 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds.

It’s great to see wagons coming back, following the swell of SUVs that overtook the market in Australia over the past 10 years or so. According to local media reports, the Avatr 06T is coming to Australia in the second half of 2027.
As far as we know, it will be offered in entry rear-wheel drive and top-spec all-wheel drive configurations. Overseas, the top variant features a tri-motor electric setup that produces a colossal 712kW (955hp), with 0-100km/h claimed in just 2.78 seconds.

Australia specs and lineup details are yet to be confirmed so we don’t know if that top-spec model will be coming here. However, it’s understood Avatr will first launch with the 07L SUV in the first half of next year, followed by this 06T.
If you’ve never heard of Avatr, we won’t judge, as it is a fairly new brand even in its home market in China – it’s been around for about five years as a brand. It started in 2018 as a joint-venture between Changan and NIO.

It then officially became Avatr in 2021, partnering with CATL and Huawei. Changan is the largest stakeholder, at 41 per cent, also running Deepal and having partnerships with Mazda and Ford. Meanwhile, CATL is world’s biggest producer of electric vehicle and storage batteries.
This latest spotting suggests the company is at the meaty point of getting its vehicles sorted for Australia.
