2027 BMW X3 M50 gets 326kW power boost, new Black Package

BMW is giving the X3 M50 xDrive a sizeable power boost for 2027, increasing output from its turbo inline-six by 33kW to 326kW. The update comes alongside a new Black Package for the M50 and a number of smaller interior changes across the wider X3 range.

In the M50, its 3.0-litre turbo inline-six petrol engine retains 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, but now develops 326kW – up from 293kW previously. This is the same tune as the recently-revealed new BMW 3 Series and its M350 variant.

BMW quotes a 0-100km/h time of 4.4 seconds, while the company also lists a 4.1-second result when using the one-foot rollout timing method. Importantly, the extra performance is standard across the X3 M50 xDrive and isn’t tied to the new Black Package.

The Black Package instead focuses on styling, introducing new 22-inch Polygon 1134 M alloy wheels, high-gloss black brake calipers and black M and model badges with silver outlining.

Changes are more extensive inside, with Alcantara applied across sections of the dashboard, door trims, centre armrest and wireless charging area. The seats combine black Alcantara and Veganza upholstery with blue stitching and piping, while additional details include CraftedClarity glass controls, M-colour accents and a leather finish for the steering wheel airbag cover.

BMW is also making several smaller changes across the entire X3 range from December 2026 production. These include a revised dashboard finish and stitching pattern, additional ambient lighting around the centre-console storage area and interior door handles, and a redesigned glovebox opener.

Selected models also receive stainless-steel boot sill protectors, while X3s fitted with the M Sport Package and all M Performance variants gain Dark Silver entry sills with black M logos.

Details regarding prices and specs for Australia are yet to be announced, but the update is likely to arrive some time in the first half of 2027.
