BYD has utilised the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed to stage the global debut of the Denza Z; a hyper-performance electric super sports car designed to challenge established European heavyweights.
Operating under BYD’s premium Denza sub-brand, the Z will be offered in Coupe, Spider, and track-focused Racing variants. The overarching technical philosophy represents a massive flex of BYD’s in-house engineering capabilities, headlined by a tri-motor electric powertrain that integrates a single front motor with dual independent rear drive units.

The impressive configuration delivers a staggering combined peak output of 1180kW and 1240Nm. That’s 1604hp in metric terms, which is incredible for a four-seat car. Out on the tarmac, the performance is understandably savage.
In flagship Racing form, equipped with an optional semi-slick tyre package, the benchmark 0-100km/h sprint is achieved in a blistering 1.96 seconds, pushing on to a top speed of 350km/h. The standard Coupe and Spider variants are marginally less explosive, recording sprint times of 2.25 and 2.30 seconds, respectively.

Energy is supplied by a 76kWh usable capacity second-generation lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) Blade battery, which is structurally integrated directly into the chassis to save weight. Supported by an 800-volt electrical architecture, this hardware configuration targets a WLTP-rated driving range of approximately 600km. BYD claims its integrated FLASH charging technology can replenish the pack from 10-70 per cent in just five minutes.
Dynamically, the Denza Z replaces traditional mechanical steering links with a highly advanced steer-by-wire FinDreams chassis system. This is paired with BYD’s DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension setup, enabling the vehicle to execute millisecond-level torque distribution adjustments during high-speed cornering and perform stationary ‘compass turns’. The driver cockpit even features software to artificially replicate simulated mechanical shifting.

International pre-sales for the entry-level Denza Z Coupe have officially commenced, carrying a starting price of roughly US$184,800 (approximately AU$275,000). While the Denza brand is actively expanding its right-hand drive export programs, any Australian confirmation is yet to be made.
