Chery Group has confirmed its new bold, design-led vehicle brand, Lepas, will officially launch in Australia during the fourth quarter of 2026. The brand’s introductory model will be the Lepas L6; an all-electric mid-size SUV positioned to compete in the expanding domestic utility segment.
The vehicle’s exterior design, pictured, features slim LED headlight signatures, a closed-off front fascia, and pronounced lower air intakes. As shown from the rear three-quarter perspective, the bodywork incorporates a full-width LED taillight bar, an integrated roof spoiler, and a contrast-black lower bumper section with aerodynamic diffuser channels.
Inside, it’s a minimalist design architecture, with a very familiar layout similar to many other mid-size electric SUVs currently on sale. The dashboard houses a small digital instrument display ahead of the driver and a prominent, vertically oriented central infotainment touch-screen that controls primary vehicle functions and media.
The centre console features integrated dual wireless charging pads and dual cup holders, much like many of the rivals. There’s also premium tan leather upholstery across the seats, door cards, and lower dash panels, accented by a panoramic glass roof and retractable blind.
Powering the Lepas L6 is a single electric motor offering a peak output of 160kW and 275Nm, delivering exactly average performance against many rivals which also produce around 160kW. The electrical system is calibrated to deliver an estimated driving range of 450km. Detailed high-voltage battery pack capacity figures, thermal management solutions, and DC fast-charging speeds have not been disclosed for the Australian specification.
According to Lucas Harris, chief operating officer of Lepas Australia, the mid-size L6 is engineered to serve as a technology-driven offering targeting competitive suburban segments and lifestyle-focused buyers. Additional Australian-market technical specs, localised safety configurations, and retail pricing will be officially released closer to the vehicle’s arrival in local showrooms late this year.
