Avatr has officially unveiled the 06T wagon at the Beijing Auto Show. Co-developed through a joint venture between Changan Automobile, tech giant Huawei, and battery manufacturer CATL, the new electric and extended-range long-roof model arrives with a starting price of US$31,900.
From a design standpoint, Avatr has addressed a major criticism of its previous models. The polarising camera-only rear-view ‘mirror’ system used on the earlier sedan has been scrapped; the 06T features a traditional rear glass window, cleanly integrating a rear wiper beneath the roof spoiler.

Underneath the sheet metal, the performance specifications are immense. The flagship all-wheel drive variant utilises a high-output tri-motor setup producing 712kW (955hp). This configuration propels the wagon from 0-100km/h in a claimed 2.78 seconds. The pure battery-electric (BEV) models are underpinned by an 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing for ultra-fast charging and delivering a maximum pure electric range of 741km.
For buyers requiring greater flexibility, the 06T will also be offered as an Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV). This variant pairs a dual-motor electric drivetrain with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that acts strictly as an onboard generator for the battery pack. The EREV model provides a highly usable 330km of pure electric driving, extending to 1250km of combined range with a full tank of fuel.

Inside, physical switchgear is kept to a minimum, with Huawei supplying the core operating software. The dash is dominated by a 35.4-inch 4K panoramic display, while the vehicle’s advanced driver assistance systems are powered by Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 4.0 software, utilising a roof-mounted 192-line LiDAR unit.
While Avatr remains heavily focused on the Chinese domestic market, the brand has confirmed that right-hand drive production is slated for Thailand by late 2026. This development establishes a clear mechanical pathway for a potential Australian release, though local distribution i s yet to be officially confirmed.
