Lucid plans new ‘Cosmos’ & ‘Earth’ mid-size SUVs

Lucid has revealed plans on the first two models to be built on its upcoming mid-size EV platform, confirming the Lucid Cosmos and Lucid Earth as part of a three-vehicle expansion below the Air and Gravity lineup.

The announcement was made at Lucid Investor Day 2026, where the company outlined the new architecture as a key part of its move into higher-volume premium segments. The new platform is being positioned as a more accessible Lucid, with the company targeting a starting price of below US$50,000.

Lucid describes Cosmos as a mid-size SUV focused on efficiency, space and performance, while Earth is pitched as the more adventurous of the pair. A third consumer model has also been confirmed, although it remains unnamed for now.

Also in the plans, the Lucid Lunar robotaxi concept. This is a unique two-seat vehicle designed for passenger trips only on a commercial basis. It showcases the possibilities in terms of maximum space and utility efficiency, as well as autonomous driving technology with no steering wheel.

Under the skin, the range will use Lucid’s new Atlas electric drive unit. The company says it is smaller, lighter and simpler than the existing setup, helping to lower production costs while preserving the brand’s usual efficiency advantage. Lucid has also previously linked the mid-size platform to a late-2026 production start.

As for Australia, there is nothing official yet. However, Lucid interim CEO Marc Winterhoff previously said the brand would enter the UK with its mid-size platform, which is notable because it points to right-hand drive markets being under consideration.
