Genesis G80 Performance ‘Magma’ specs revealed, 20 units planned

We’ve seen pictures of an orange Genesis G80 performance Magma flagship before, but no firm specs or anything official for the production model. This is something a little different but it seems to be inspired heavily by the new Magma sub-brand.

For starters, this is a special project with Saudi Arabian outfit W Motors, with only 20 units earmarked for production. It fits consistently with Genesis’s latest move into ultra-exclusive territory with masterpieces such as the G90 Wingback and X Skorpio concept.

It represents a peculiar divergence from Magma, which has also showcased race-ready variants of the GV80 and a hi-po G80 Electrified. We expect to hear more about those soon.

W Motors, for those who may not be aware, are the makers of the Lykan Hypersport – a car most famous for jumping between skyscrapers in the Furious 7 film of the Fast and Furious franchise. Secondary to that, you might also recognise it from Supercar Blondie demonstrating its holographic infotainment display (but we’d forgive you if you hadn’t).

Moving onto the juicy stuff, the familiar Genesis 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 has had a 101kW and 120Nm steroid injection, bringing total power output to 380kW and 650Nm. There’s also a bespoke exhaust system to give it a nice voice.

Further to that, mesmerising-to-behold KW coilovers and a Brembo GT braking system of unspecified diameter and pistonage give the car gravitas. 21-inch BBS forged alloys wrapped in Michelins no doubt help with overall handling.

W Motors will provide a support package for owners, which includes a two-year or 60,000km warranty, a matching service contract, and roadside assistance. The vehicle represents a specific collaboration for a defined market, rather than a broad new model line for Genesis.

Best of all, no hybrid nonsense (I’m looking at you, BMW and AMG).
