Hyundai N Rapid Charger at Sydney Motorsport Park locked in for 5-year deal

Hyundai has officially locked in a five-year partnership with Sydney Motorsport Park, confirming that its N Electric Vehicle Rapid Charging Station will remain a permanent fixture at the facility through to 2028.

Originally installed for last year’s N Festival and the national launch of the IONIQ 5 N, the dual 150kW DC chargers have now been freshly wrapped in Hyundai’s N branding. The chargers, which offer four Type 2 plugs between them, are open to all EV drivers – regardless of vehicle make – attending the track.

The move cements a long-standing relationship between Hyundai and the Australian Racing Drivers’ Club (ARDC), which operates the motorsport venue. The collaboration has previously seen Hyundai host numerous events at SMSP, including media drives, staff training days, and the brand’s fifth and largest N Festival to date. ARDC CEO Glenn Matthews said:

“The EV chargers are already making an immediate impact in helping to meet the current and future demands of the rapidly growing EV Automotive market, industry EV test days, privately owned EVs at track days, as well as supporting the many university Formula SAE teams that use SMSP for tertiary education and R&D.”

The IONIQ 5 N continues in its role as the official safety vehicle at SMSP, giving track drivers and spectators a chance to see the capability of the electric SUV in a real-world, performance car scenario.

Soon, Hyundai will launch its second performance electric car with the IONIQ 6 N. More details on that model are expected to emerge in the coming months.
