2025 Ford Transit Custom PHEV, E-Transit announced for Australia

Following the announcement of the new Transit Custom Trail AWD, Ford Australia is expanding its light commercial van lineup with the official pricing and specs for the incoming MY2025.75 E-Transit Custom and Transit Custom PHEV, bringing electric and plug-in hybrid options to the segment with strong towing, clever packaging, and a lengthy features list.

Set to arrive in Australia in the third quarter of 2025, the new electrified variants will be available in both Short Wheelbase (SWB) and Long Wheelbase (LWB) formats. Four new models will join the range, comprising the Transit Custom PHEV in Trend LWB and Sport SWB trims, as well as the fully electric E-Transit Custom in the same body styles.

Designed for business owners looking to lower running costs without sacrificing practicality, both electrified Transit models retain the same load space as their diesel siblings; 6.0m³ in LWB and 5.2m³ in SWB form. Payload capacity ranges from 1111kg to 1206kg depending on the model, while all offer a segment-leading braked towing capacity of 2300kg.

The PHEV pairs a 2.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined 171kW, offering up to 54km of electric range and fuel economy as low as 1.7L/100km. It also features three EV drive modes to suit different driving scenarios.

The E-Transit Custom, meanwhile, is powered by a 160kW/415Nm rear-mounted electric motor and 64kWh battery. It supports 125kW DC fast charging, topping up from 15–80 per cent in just over 30 minutes, and also features one-pedal driving and a heat pump to boost efficiency in colder climates.

Both variants offer a revamped interior layout optimised for commercial users, with more in-cabin storage, a column-mounted gear shifter, three-seat layout, wireless smartphone mirroring, and Ford’s latest SYNC 4 infotainment system running on a 13-inch touch-screen.
