2025 RAM 1500 turbo 6CYL on sale in Australia, up to 403kW

RAM Trucks Australia has confirmed the arrival of the 2025 RAM 1500, marking a significant shift in the lineup with the introduction of a twin-turbo ‘Hurricane’ inline-six engine, replacing the iconic HEMI V8. It’s being launched in two variants; the Laramie Sport and the Limited.

Replacing the long-standing V8, the new 3.0-litre twin-turbo Hurricane engine is available in two outputs. The Laramie Sport features the Standard Output (SO) version, delivering 313kW and 635Nm – outperforming the outgoing 291kW/556Nm HEMI V8 1500.

Meanwhile, the Limited steps it up with the High Output (HO) version, producing a massive 403kW and 707Nm. Both models send power through an eight-speed automatic transmission, with selectable all-wheel drive and multiple driving modes catering to varied road conditions.

Aside from the engine swap, RAM has bolstered the 1500’s technology suite with a new 14.4-inch infotainment touch-screen, now accompanied by a 10.25-inch interactive display for the front passenger. This secondary screen allows passengers to manage navigation, media, and even mirror their smartphone via HDMI without distracting the driver. Dual wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system further enhance the cabin experience.

Luxury takes centre stage in the flagship Limited, which introduces massaging front seats with five settings and three speed options. Both trims come standard with a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, power-retractable side steps, and a hands-free power tailgate.

New driver assistance systems bolster the RAM 1500’s safety package, including intersection collision avoidance, drowsy driver detection, and evasive steering assist. The Limited variant adds traffic sign recognition, proximity lighting, and animated LED headlights and taillights.

With a maximum towing capacity of up to 4500kg and payload ratings of 782.5kg (Limited) and 863kg (Laramie Sport), the 2025 RAM 1500 remains a formidable workhorse while incorporating significant performance and comfort improvements.
