The Ford Ranger Wildtrak X is back. The on-again, off-again special edition is now available in 2025 (MY25.5) form, following a “sell-out” success of the last iteration launched in 2023.
Like the previous model, the 2025 version comes kitted out with enhanced off-road-ready components, such as Bilstein dampers, a steel bash plate under the front end with power steering protection, as well as widened track widths by 30mm. Mods have also resulted in 26mm of additional ground clearance.
Other highlights include unique 17-inch alloy wheels wearing General Gabber AT3 all-terrain tyres measuring 265/70, with auxiliary high-beam LEDs integrated into the off-road front grille and matrix LED headlights. You also get the Flexible Rack System in the back, heavy-duty side steps, and Asphalt Black details and trimmings.
Unfortunately, the Wildtrak X comes only with the 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder engine – the V6 diesel is not an option. The four-banger produces 150kW and 500Nm, paired with a 10-speed automatic, with selectable rear-/four-wheel drive. Turn Trail Assist, Trail Control, and Rock Crawl modes are included. Speaking about the new edition, Mathew Slade, product and retail marketing manager at Ford Australia, said:
“It builds on the legendary Wildtrak nameplate, adds serious off-road chops thanks to the trick Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers, and clever everyday useability with the Flexible Rack System2 – a classic example of Aussie ingenuity!”
Fresh for the MY25 version is a 400W power inverter in the rear of the console and tray area. The Pro Trailer Backup Assist technology also comes as standard, with metallic paint being the only option ($700).
Ford has swapped out the previous Cyber Orange and introduced Luxe Yellow and Blue Lightning. Aluminium, Arctic White, Meteor Grey and Shadow Black remain.
Inside, being based on the Wildtrak means you get the full-size 12.4-inch digital gauge cluster, 12-inch touch-screen, and a B&O premium sound system. Some all-weather floor mats are thrown in, along with various Wildtrak X logos and branding.
