JAC T9 finally arrives in Australia, customer deliveries commence

JAC Motors is celebrating a milestone with the 1000th JAC T9 allocated for Australia rolling off the Chinese assembly line, just as local customer deliveries commence.

With prices starting from $45,670 drive-away, the brand is boasting that it has the safest ute on sale, when aggregated scores across four categories of adult, child, vulnerable user and driving assist are factored in from ANCAP’s testing.

Two specifications are available; Oasis and Haven. Both are powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel developing a below-average 125kW/410Nm, connected to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Payload is 1045kg while towing was recently downrated from 3500kg to 3000kg, with a towball weight of 300kg.

The entry-level Oasis model sports a 10.4-inch touch-screen infotainment system as well as a digital instrument panel, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charging as well as 18-inch wheels. Stepping up to the Haven gives you rear privacy glass, a full 360-degree camera as well as seat heating.

JAC is providing a seven-year warranty (unlimited km), capped-price servicing, and 24/7 roadside assistance.

The T9 enters a very lucrative but overcrowded segment in Australia, with more players set to enter the market in 2025. A replacement for the LDV T60 will enter the arena soon, as well as Foton Tunland V7 and V9. There’s also word of a Chery ute on the horizon.

While the new T9 is unlikely to threaten the dominance of Ranger and HiLux, it may find its own niche at the lower end of the market. We will bring you more updates as they come to hand.
