2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado on sale in Australia, price from $72,500

It’s one of the most highly-anticipated arrivals of the year, and now it has finally arrived. The all-new 2025 Toyota LandCruiser Prado. It’s on sale in Australia right now, priced from $72,500.

Five variants make up the local range, spanning from the GX, GXL, VX, Altitude, to the top Kakadu. All are powered by a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder running the latest 48V mild-hybrid technology, producing 150kW and 500Nm – just like the latest HiLux. The outputs are carried over from before, but Toyota says the new engine setup offers improvements in “smoothness, driveability and fuel efficiency” over the outgoing version.

As we’ve already seen, the 2025 Prado showcases an all-new design inside and out, but it rides on the TNGA-F platform like its bigger brother, the 300 Series. With that the wheelbase is extended by 60mm, the front track is widened by 79mm and the rear widened by 83mm compared with the outgoing Prado.

The growth in dimensions brings in more cabin space, with overall vehicle length increased by 165mm, to 4990mm, making it a decent size larger than the outgoing model. Hardcore off-road enthusiasts will appreciate that it still uses a live-axle rear end, with double-wishbones at the front. The VX and Kakadu add adaptive variable suspension (AVS).

Adding to the off-road credentials, the GX, GXL and Altitude come with a three-mode drive system, while the VX and Kakadu use a five-mode system that ties in with the variable suspension. The latter two also come with multi-terrain select to optimise capability on dirt, mud, sand, and snow.

Inside, all variants feature a 12.3-inch touch-screen system running Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with cloud-based sat-nav. The GX uses a fabric trim as per tradition, but it does come with a surround-view camera, 10-speaker sound system, five USB-C ports and a 220V socket, along with 60:40 split-fold rear seats and a 7.0-inch gauge cluster.
