Yep, this is one of the quickest SUVs in the world and it has just landed in Australia, the Zeekr 001 FR. It will be on display at this weekend’s Sydney International EV Show 2024, running from November 8-10.
The left-hand drive example was spotted on the back of a truck in Sydney this week, featuring a pearl white exterior and lots of carbon fibre bits. Although the bodykit might seem for show only, this EV is actually incredibly quick.
Power comes from four electric motors (one at each wheel) combining to produce an insane 931kW (1265PS) and 1265Nm. These receive energy from a 100kWh battery that provides a range of 550km (CLTC).
Across the standard 0-100km/h sprint the 001 FR takes just 2.02 seconds, making it the quickest Zeekr and in fact the quickest production four-door vehicle in Geely’s portfolio. And keep in mind Geely owns Lotus, Polestar and Volvo.
It also features hardcore brakes and suspension to help it handle all of that grunt, as well as an 800V electrical architecture. The regular Zeekr 001 has recorded a charging speed of 546kW using a Zeekr V3 Supercharger.
Chargers that powerful are not available in Australia.
Taking a look at the EV show’s website, it looks like Zeekr will also be showcasing its 009 fully electric luxury MPV, the Zeekr X SUV which is now on sale, and the Zeekr 007 electric sedan. The sedan was also seen on the truck in top-spec form.
The flagship 007 also uses an 800V electrical system supporting a range of up to 870km. Peak power is stamped at 475kW, with 0-100km/h claimed in just 2.84 seconds. Zeekr is yet to confirm if the 007 will be introduced in Australia, but it has said it is planning to launch a new model here every year from 2025.
