Kia has confirmed the starting price and specs for its all-new, all-electric mid-sized SUV, the EV5, for Australia. You could think of this new model as the electric alternative to the popular Sportage, only priced from around $20,000 more, starting from $56,770.
The EV5 is available in three variant levels; the Air, Earth, and GT-Line. The latter two are set to arrive in December. The Air trim is offered with front-wheel drive (FWD) and is offered with either a 64.2 kWh standard range battery (400km range) or an 88.1 kWh long-range battery (555km).
Both the Earth and GT-Line trims come with all-wheel drive (AWD) and are powered exclusively by the long-range battery, with a range of 500km for the Earth and 470km for the GT-Line. With twin electric motors, these produce an impressive 230kW and 480Nm. The base FWD single-motor generates 160kW/310Nm (in both battery sizes).
Topping the range, the GT-Line brings a host of premium features like heated and cooling storage, Augmented Reality Head-up Display (AR-HUD), and Remote Smart Park Assist 2 (RSPA 2), as well as sporty exterior highlights such as unique wheels and a two-tone roof option.
The EV5 showcases Kia’s “Opposites United” design philosophy while maintaining a rugged SUV stance. Features like the wide nose, solid bonnet, and Star Map LED lighting enhance its visual appeal. Practicality also shines with the inclusion of roof rails, folding door handles, and a smart power tailgate available on higher trims.
Inside, the EV5 features dual 12.3-inch displays with a 5.0-inch bridging display, providing a seamless digital experience for drivers. Kia Connect and over-the-air (OTA) updates come standard, as does a shift-by-wire system across the range. For those opting for the Earth trim, the interior is available in both Smokey Black and Nougat Beige, offering a refined touch.
All EV5 trims come equipped comprehensive safety features, including Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2), a centre side airbag, with Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM) available on the GT-Line. See below for the full prices and specifications:
