2024 Isuzu MU-X Tour Mate special edition announced

On sale in Australia from October 1, priced from $73,990

Isuzu Australia has announced a new special edition for its MU-X fleet for 2024, called the Tour Mate. It comes standard with a number of genuine accessories to help boost its touring capability.

In fact, it comes with over $9200 worth of added accessories, including many that are commonly optioned by buyers intending to tow and travel. Some of the extras include a satin steel bull bar with integrated parking sensors and LED fog lights, the tow bar kit with a 50mm ball and 12-pin harness, and electronic brake controller.

It also comes with extending and heated towing side mirrors, and bespoke Tour Mate badges and logos. The special edition is based on the top-spec LS-T, so it comes with all of the convenience-minded features and luxuries you need, such as leather upholstery, power front seats with heating, and dual-zone climate control.

Power comes from the tried and trusted β€˜4JJ’ 3.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder, producing 140kW and 450Nm. This is matched to a six-speed automatic with dual-range four-wheel drive and a locking rear differential, as well as Rough Terrain Mode. Speaking about the special model, Isuzu Australia deputy managing director, Koichiro Yoshida, said:

“With the D-Max Tour Mate proving popular since its introduction in August 2024, it was only natural that we offer a Tour Mate special edition to our MU-X customers. For years, the Tour Mate badge represented towing- and touring-ready capability, along with value for money. The 2024 Isuzu MU-X Tour Mate is no exception, a highly equipped vehicle that offer motorists adventures direct from the showroom.”

The MU-X offers a 3500kg braked towing capacity, making it ideal for long-distance touring, with over 500kg of payload capacity leftover even with these accessories added on which weigh around 102kg. There’s also 235mm of ground clearance and 800mm of water wading capability.

Isuzu says the MU-X Tour Mate goes on sale from October 1, priced from $73,990 drive-away. That compares well to the regular MU-X LST, which starts from $69,400 excluding on-road costs. Isuzu vehicles are covered by a six-year/150,000km warranty, and the MU-X is offered with a five-year flat price servicing program of $449 per year at 15,000km intervals.
