XPeng G6 electric SUV spotted in Australia, pre-orders now open

An example of the incoming 2025 XPeng G6 fully electric SUV has been spotted in Australia, ahead of its official showroom arrival later this year.

We spotted this test vehicle driving around in Sydney this week, confirming local testing is well and truly underway. Although, XPeng Motors, a Chinese carmaker established in 2017, has already set up an Australian website showcasing plenty of details, including an area for pre-orders.

The XPeng G6 was originally unveiled at the Auto Shanghai motor show in 2023 as the company’s fifth model. In Australia it will be offered in two main forms, including the Standard range and Long range. Both use an 800V electrical architecture, and both are single-motor with rear-wheel drive.

Going for the Standard gets you an 66kWh (LFP) battery that offers a range of 435km on the WLTP cycle, with 190kW and 440Nm to play with. The Long range model sees output increase to 210kW and 440Nm, with the range increasing to 570km thanks to an 87.5kWh (NCM) battery.

Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes a claimed 6.6 seconds in the base model and 6.2 seconds in the Long. There is a G6 Performance AWD option overseas, which produces 350kW and does the dash in 4.1 seconds. It’s unclear if this model will be offered in Australia though, at this stage.

Thanks to an advanced SEPA 2.0 platform and 800V technology, the G6 can recharge at up to 280kW, requiring less than 20 minutes to go from 10-80 per cent. The flat floor and 2.89m wheelbase promises ample legroom and headroom, with 571L of boot space.

Inside, it’s a typically clean and fuss-free design for a modern EV, with a 15-inch touch-screen packing most of the vehicle functions, and than a 10.2-inch screen for the gauge cluster. There’s also a 960-Watt Xopera sound system with 18 speakers, according to the local website, dual wireless phone chargers (50W) with coolers, V2L capability, heated and ventilated seats, and Michelin tyres.

According to the local website, pre-orders are being taken now, while prices will be announced in September.
