2025 BMW X3 prices announced for Australia

BMW Australia has released prices for the 2025 BMW X3 range, ushering a much bolder design language and much-improved green credentials for the fourth-generation SUV. Two petrol configurations will be available at launch, packing 48V mild-hybrid technology.

Dimensionally, the X3 has grown to 4755mm long (up 34mm), 1920mm wide (up 29mm), but height is now 25mm lower to give off a more sporting attitude than its forebear. Track width has increased to 1636mm at the front and 1681mm at the rear, for a wider footprint all round. Boot capacity grows by 20 litres to 570L with the seats up, or 1700L with them folded.

Stylistically, it now receives flush door handles mirroring a lot of the newest members of the BMW family, including the i4 and i5, with the licence plate now moved to the lower portion of the tailgate and bumper. Cleaner surface treatment and more intricate wheel patterns are also introduced, including a new rendition of the fabled kidney grille, with illuminated portions.

The range starts with the 20 xDrive, which comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, and then the flagship M50 xDrive gets sportier, 21-inch wheels.

The new interior is a vastly more futuristic and high-tech affair, with intricate LED lighting elements on the door panel and centre stack, with the centrepiece being the integrated 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and 14.9-inch infotainment display, running BMW’s Operating System 9.0.

Engines comprise a 2.0-litre, 140kW/ 310Nm turbo-petrol four-cylinder for the 20i, good for 0-100km/h in a claimed 8.5 seconds. Moving up to the M50 gets you a delicious 3.0-litre turbo inline-six, developing a beastly 293kW and 580Nm, dropping the 0-100km/h sprint time to 4.6 seconds.

Fuel economy details for the 2025 BMW X3 range and prices for the electric iX3 are yet to be confirmed. See below for the starting prices for the two variants that will initially launch early next year (excluding on-road costs):

2025 BMW X3 20 xDrive: $84,500
2025 BMW X3 M50 xDrive: $126,900
