Jaguar has unveiled its final F-Type variant, called the ZP Edition, marking the end of production for the sexy sports car after its 10-year stint.
The Jaguar F-Type was first unveiled in 2012 (and 2013 in coupe form) as a kind of spiritual successor to the old E-Type. Buyers could choose between coupe and convertible, as well as supercharged V6 and V8 engines. Eventually, all-wheel drive became available as well.
For the final variant, the ZP Edition, Jaguar is using the V8 in coupe and convertible as a base. A special final model has been produced which will go into the Jaguar Heritage collection, coated in Giola Green with a black roof, featuring a Tan Windsor leather upholstery inside. This is a similar theme to the final E-Type 5.3L V12 Series III, made in 1974.
However, customers can choose between a range of exclusion colour combinations, including Mars Red with Ebony leather, or Crystal Grey with Navy Blue and Ebony leather. A Porcelain White Gloss roundel can be included on the doors to provide a race-like theme.
Both the E-Type and F-Type end production on almost the same day of the year, only 50 years apart. While the E-Type left off to make way for the XJ-S of the time, the F-Type will sadly depart for a range of new electric vehicles.
Jaguar confirms it is working on a new four-door fully electric GT car that “promises to be a copy of nothing” when it debuts some time in 2025. A range of other EVs are also on the way. Jaguar was one of the first brands to put its hand up to swap to electric vehicles only, and it said a few years ago that this would happen from 2025.
Until then, the brand still offers the full range, including the XE and XF sedans, the E-Pace and F-Pace SUVS, as well as the I-Pace fully electric crossover. The F-Type will continue to be available until early 2025, although production has finished.
Since it arrived, Jaguar has produced 87,731 F-Type sports cars, making it a very popular model in Jaguar’s history, even surpassing the E-Type which hit 72,528 units in its 13-year run.
The Jaguar F-Type ZP Edition is limited to just 150 cars worldwide, and Jaguar Australia has confirmed it has been able to secure 24 examples for the local market. Prices are yet to be announced but these will be available from July this year. Best to get in quick.
