MINI unveils all-new Aceman compact crossover, confirmed for Australia

MINI has unveiled its new Aceman compact SUV, and it has been confirmed to go on sale in Australia before the end of 2024.

The new model is described as offering a “creative use of space” that combines as much interior room as possible into a compact, all-wheel drive crossover format. It is the first Aceman ever, and MINI says it is its first crossover model for the premium small car segment.

2025 MINI Aceman - length

Measuring just 4.07m long, 1.75m wide, and 1.5m tall, it is about 440mm shorter in length, about 90mm narrower, and about 145mm lower in height compared with the latest Countryman SUV. This is small and, we’re sure you’ll agree, very cute. Short front and rear overhangs, MINI’s latest edgy contours, and muscular wheel arches help it stand as something distinctively MINI.

Inside, it’s all about technology, and efficient use of space. Drivers can toggle through a range of settings that MINI calls Experience Modes. These change everything from dashboard and mood lighting, the MINI Driving Sounds, graphics within the OLED display, along with driving modes.

There are eight modes to select from, including a Go-Kart mode, Vivid, Core, Green, Timeless, Balance, and Trail modes. There’s also a Personal Mode that allows users to mix and match different settings for a custom setup.

All of this operates through the MINI Operating System 9, with a 9.4-inch screen with a high-quality glass face. The layout includes navigation, media, telephone, and climate menus, but the screen is very interactive as well. For example, tapping on the speedo expands the window to a full-screen layout focused on driving.

In terms of the powertrains, all variants are fully electric. The range kicks off with a 135kW/290Nm motor that offers 0-100km/h in a claimed 7.9 seconds and a range of 310km for the entry Aceman E.

The Aceman SE features a 160kW/330Nm system that conquers 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, with a range of 406km. Battery sizes are 42.5kWh and 54.2kWh, respectively.

2025 MINI Aceman - charging

When it comes time to charge, the Aceman takes in 11kW of AC power, or up to 75kW of DC power in the E and 95kW with the SE. Charging from 10-80 per cent takes around 30 minutes using a DC fast charger.

MINI Australia confirms the Aceman is scheduled to arrive locally during the fourth quarter of this year. Prices and Australian specifications will be announced closer to its launch date.
