Leapmotor will launch its new B03X electric SUV in Australia from $29,990 drive-away, making it one of the country’s cheapest new EVs on sale. Deliveries begin in November.
Two variants will be available, with the entry-level B03X Style joined by a longer-range Design LR. The Style uses a 39.8kWh LFP battery and 130kW/200Nm electric motor, providing up to 292km of WLTP range. The Design LR increases battery capacity to 53kWh and motor output to 145kW, extending its claimed range to 382km WLTP.
Despite the difference in power, Leapmotor quotes the same 8.6-second 0-100km/h time and 160km/h top speed for both versions.
DC charging peaks at 100kW in the Style and 133kW in the Design LR, with both claimed to complete a 30-80 per cent recharge in around 16 minutes under ideal conditions. An 11kW AC onboard charger and 3.3kW vehicle-to-load capability are standard.
Measuring 4270mm long and 1810mm wide, with a 2605mm wheelbase, the B03X sits in the small SUV class. Maximum boot capacity is listed at 1315 litres, while the cabin includes 33 storage areas, 60:40 split-folding rear seats and Leapmotor’s additional Leap Box rear storage system.
Standard equipment on the Style includes a 14.6-inch touch-screen and 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, satellite navigation, climate control and a six-speaker audio system.
It also comes with seven airbags and Leap Pilot Level 2 driver assistance, incorporating 21 assistance functions including adaptive cruise control, lane centring, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and front and rear cross-traffic alert.
Stepping up to the Design LR adds 18-inch alloy wheels, synthetic leather upholstery, power adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel, a 12-speaker sound system and multi-colour ambient lighting. The higher grade also gains front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system with an integrated dashcam recorder.
Leapmotor covers the B03X with a six-year/150,000km vehicle warranty and an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty. Eight years of roadside assistance and capped-price servicing are also included. See below for the starting prices (drive-away):
