2027 Genesis GV60 Magma on sale in Australia, price from $130,000

Genesis is getting ready to launch its first dedicated high-performance Magma model in Australia, with the all-electric GV60 Magma now available from $130,000 before on-road costs.

Positioned at the top of the MY2027 GV60 range, the Magma introduces a range of chassis, styling and software upgrades aimed at delivering a more engaging driving experience while laying the foundation for future performance models from the Korean luxury brand.

Power comes from dual electric motors producing 448kW and 740Nm in normal driving. Engaging Boost Mode temporarily lifts outputs to 478kW and 790Nm, helping it accelerate from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.4 seconds and 0-200km/h in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is rated at 264km/h.

The Magma uses an 84kWh battery and all-wheel drive, with drivers able to choose between Sprint, GT and a configurable My Mode that allows adjustment of systems including the electronic limited-slip differential and stability control.

Genesis has also added several performance-focused technologies, including a Virtual Gear Shift system that simulates gear changes and engine sounds, along with a Drift Mode that biases power delivery to the rear axle.

A High-Performance Battery Control function prepares the battery for repeated high-load driving, while an updated regenerative braking system uses navigation and traffic data to automatically adjust braking strength.

Underneath, the suspension has been recalibrated with revised geometry, ad electronically-controlled dampers and new bushings are added, designed to improve both handling and ride comfort. Larger 400mm front brake discs are also fitted, with Genesis claiming 100-0km/h in 33.8 metres.

The exterior receives a more aggressive look through unique front and rear bumpers, canards, side skirts, a winglet-style rear spoiler, and forged 21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres.

Inside, the cabin features suede-like upholstery, Magma-specific range highlights and a dedicated steering wheel, while a 27-inch OLED display combines the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Activating Magma Mode changes the instrument display to a performance-focused layout showing information such as G-force, battery temperature and motor temperature.

The GV60 Magma is covered by Genesis’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty and five years of complimentary scheduled servicing, with roadside assistance extending to 10 years when serviced through the Genesis dealer network. Prices start from $130,000 (excluding on-roads), with deliveries starting very soon.
