2027 Lexus TZ revealed; new 6-seat large fully electric SUV

Say hello to the new three-row-seat fully electric Lexus TZ. This is the largest fully electric vehicle Lexus has ever launched, and it is being considered for Australia.

The Lexus TZ measures 5100mm long, 1990mm wide, and 1705mm tall, riding on a 3050mm wheelbase. That makes it the same length as the Lexus LX (LandCruiser), with the same width, only this presents a lower roof height and the wheelbase is actually 200mm longer than the LX.

Power comes from a 95.82kWh battery offering 22kW AC charging, with a cruising range of up to 620km using the Japanese test cycle, or 530km under the European test cycle (WLTP). At the front and back are 167kW/268Nm electric motors, combining to produce 300kW. Lexus claims 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds. The kerb weight is 2630kg.

Lexus is showcasing an all-new design philosophy with the TZ, with new shapes and contours giving it a fresh and more modern look compared with existing products. It takes on an elongated raised wagon profile, with a blanked-off front grille area and pronounced wheel arches.

Inside, the company describes the interior as offering a ‘Driving Lounge’ concept that “encourages family conversation” and enjoyment. The dash layout is clean and clutter-free, with a big central touch-screen and very few physical controls. Takeshi Miyaura, Lexus chief engineer, said:

“TZ was developed with the ‘Driving Lounge’ concept: a refined mobile space that brings smiles to the faces of drivers and families. To get there, the development team continually questioned and refined the vehicle’s identity. We envisioned Lexus’s target brand value – customers who value time and choose authenticity – and aimed to deliver a new Lexus experience through the TZ.”

This is Lexus’s third fully electric model behind the UX 300e and RZ, and second dedicated electric model behind the RZ, excluding the LFA Concept. It’s understood Lexus Australia is evaluating the TZ to consider for local showroom entry, but a decision is yet to be made.
